A Portable Non-Destructive Tool for Uranium Determination in Aqueous Samples
نویسنده
چکیده
The interest in nuclear safeguards is constantly growing, as more nuclear programs are being exposed all over the world. In this work, a simple, rapid and reliable method has been applied for the determination of uranium content in aqueous media based on using potentiometric sensor. The developed tool was found to be capable of verifying the operator declarations in a wide concentration range with a considerable accuracy and precision. The developed tool offers the advantage of field verification of uranyl concentration rather than taking samples for further analysis. Effect of temperature of the test solution was investigated and the isothermal temperature coefficient of the electrode was estimated. The results obtained applying this potentiometric electrode is comparable with the data obtained using UV-Visible and ICP-OE spectrometers.

Spectrophotometric determination of uranium in water samples after cloud point extraction using nonionic surfactant Triton X-114
A cloud point extraction process using the nonionic surfactant Triton X-114 to extracturanium from aqueous solutions was investigated. The method is based on the complexationreaction of uranium with Arsenazo III and micelle-mediated extraction of the complex. Theoptimal extraction and reaction conditions (e.g., pH, reagent concentration, effect of time) werestudied, and the analytical character...
متن کاملDetermination of uranium isotopes (234U, 238U) and natural uranium (U-nat) in water samples by alpha spectrometry
Background: Due to the potential public health effects of releases of uranium to the environment, isotopic determination and measurement of this radionuclide in environmental samples is very important. Achieving this goal, monitoring programs for this radionuclide seems necessary to be applied in many countries. Materials and Methods: The uranium was separated from the water samples using anion...
متن کاملCOLUMN PRECONCENTRATION OF URANIUM BY 1 -(2-PY RIDYLAZ0)-2-NAPHTHOL SUPPORTED ON NAPHTHALENE USING DIF'FERENTLAL PULSE POLAROGRAPHY
A solid chelating material, 1-(2-pyridy1azo)-2-naphthol (PAN) supported on naphthalene provides a rapid and highly selective means of preconcentration of uranium from aqueous solution. Uranium is quantitatively retained on this adsorbent in the pH range 9.8-10.7 with a flow rate of 1 ml min . The metal complex was desorbed with 10 ml of 2 M hydrochloric acid and uranium is determined by d...
متن کاملThe Effect of Type and Concentration of Surfactant and Ligand on Uranium (VI) Cloud-Point Extraction (CPE) from Aqueous Solutions (Short Communication)
In this article cloud-point extraction (CPE) was used with chelating agent to extract uranium from aqueous solutions. The methodology used is based on the formation of metal complexes soluble in a micellar phase of surfactant. The metal ions complexes are then extracted into the surfactant-rich phase at a temperature above the cloud-point temperature. The effect of type of surfactants and ligan...
متن کاملNon-Extractive Spectrophotometric Determination of U(VI) Using 5-Bromo Salicylaldehyde Isonicotinoyl Hydrazone in Environmental, Phosphate Rocks and Fertilizer Samples
A highly sensitive and selective spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of trace amount of uranium (VI) in water samples in aqueous DMF medium. The uranyl ion forms a pale yellow colored complex with 5-Bromo salicylaldehyde isonocotinoyl hydrazone (5-BrSAINH) in an acidic buffer of pH 5.0. The complex has an absorbance maximum at 395nm, was stable for more than 72 hours. ...
